Buy the Opal Coat sewing pattern from Sew Over It. Featuring a stylish revere collar with statement lapels and a half-moon collar stand for added structure, this fully lined oversized coat with a generous wrap will keep you cosy in the coldest months. Large patch pockets are sewn over the side seams, and the coat closes with a tie belt held in place at the sides with optional thread belt loops. Sizes 18-30 also have a small bust dart for easier fitting. Version 1 is a full length coat that will turn heads, while Version 2 is knee length.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some of the pattern pieces have been split (to fit on the A0 sheets) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: Medium to heavyweight fabric such as tweed, boucle, melton, jacquard and boiled wool. For the lining, opt for a viscose or crepe – something that will allow you to put your coat on with ease.

Sizes 6 - 20

Version 1: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: Main, 4.75 m (5 1/4 yd) // Lining, 2.9 m (3 1/4 yd).

Version 2: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: Main, 3.75 m (4 1/8 yd) // Lining, 2.25 m (2 1/2 yd).

Sizes 18 - 30

Version 1: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: Main, 5.0 m (5 1/2 yd) // Lining, 3.9 m (4 3/8 yd).

Version 2: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: Main, 4.25 m (4 3/4 yd) // Lining, 3.3 m (3 5/8 yd).

Sizing: UK 6 – 20 and UK 18 – 30 (approx. UK 6 – 20 and UK 20 – 32, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size charts and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is split into two different blocks. The 6-20 size range is drafted for a B cup. The 18-30 size range is drafted for a D cup.
